Hiking routes and walking trails
You’ll find plenty of nature routes and trails in the Sonderborg area. The most famous hiking trail is the Gendarme Path, which is a 84 km long hiking trail along the coastline, stretching from Padborg to Sonderborg.

We have three nature schools, which host several events during the year, where you and your family can venture out in the surrounding nature and receive guidance from a nature counselor.

Outdoor facilities
There are many different nature camps and playgrounds in the Sonderborg area. You can also try one of the many outdoor fitness facilities such as Gråsten Fitness Park by Gråsten Plejecenter, Trivselsparken at Grundtvigs Alle 150 in Sonderborg, the outdoor fitness by the marina in Sonderborg or NS-anlægget in Nordborg.
Bird watching
Bring your monocular on your holiday. The island Als, Broagerland and the forest Gråstenskovene are rich on bird life.
Sledge runs
There are three sledge runs located within the municipality, which you can use during the winter months: At Hjertehøj in Graasten, at Dybbøl Banke in Sonderborg and in Sønderskoven on Als.

Angling locations and fishing lakes
You will find several fishing lakes on North Als, but you can also fish directly from the beach. See the many fishing spots on the map or read more here.
All anglers between the age of 18 and 66 need a fishing license, while certain Put & Take lakes only require a fishing-card for angling in their lake.
Blue Flag Center and beaches
The Blue Flag Center in Sonderborg is an exhibition and activitiy center located at Sonderborg Marina each summer. The center is staffed with a biologist and equipped with nets, underwater binoculars, a sensing pool and much more. It is free to join, and you can look around during opening hours.

Diving and snorkeling
Several reefs have been established around Als, where you can both do snorkeling and diving.
Kitesurfing and kayaking
