Collaboration Concert: Star Wars and the Planets

Once a year, the region's two symphony orchestras unite in a magnificent concert. And why not take the opportunity to take a trip into space! We'll start with John Williams' music for Star Wars – here in a bouillon cube of a suite for orchestra, where all the well-known themes are included.

Next is Holst's The planets on the program, a concert that really requires a large and roaring orchestra! Holst wrote The planets in the early 1900th century, and the work is not about astronomy, but about astrology: each movement depicts a planet as an expression of a human force or state of mind – from war and love to mystery and eternity.

“I am looking forward to conducting our collaboration concert with the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Sinfonieorchester for the first time. The program features Holst's incredibly atmospheric The Planets and John Williams' beloved music from Star Wars.” Christian Oland
