But self-congratulation is not the goal – although it is in a way one of the means. My real goal is the exact opposite: self-forgetfulness for everyone for an evening. Just as I write and perform my songs to get some time off from my own many thoughts, my hope is that the audience and I can together put our worries aside for a while. I bring the stories and the melodies, and if all goes well, we will all forget ourselves and let the music and the togetherness take over.”
