Author lecture with Rasmus Nielsen

Meet Rasmus Nielsen, the author behind the popular novel series “The Nurse of Southern Jutland”

Rasmus Nielsen is the author behind the popular novel series The South Jutland nurse, which follows the young Caroline from Sonderborg through the years leading up to the Reunification in 1920. Inspired by his own great-grandmother's life, he draws a vivid portrait of a time marked by war and major social changes.

The story begins in 1912, where Caroline lives in German-occupied Southern Jutland with her parents and four siblings, for whom she bears great responsibility. The story continues to Copenhagen and London, where Caroline trains as a nurse, and where she truly enters a world marked by both hope and war.

Rasmus Nielsen was born in Sonderborg, raised in Ribe and graduated with a Master of Arts in Literature. He has worked as a cultural mediator, editor and radio producer and made his debut in 2025 with Light waves when you blow, the first volume in the novel series.
