Dansk Café for Newcomers
What is Dansk Café?
Dansk Café is a monthly meeting for people who want to learn and help each other with practicing Danish. It is a cooperation between the library at SDU and the newcomers' network.
There are no certified teachers, course plans, or evaluations of your learning process - we meet to speak Danish. Coordinators make a program for each session full of fun activities to help facilitate the conversation. The setting is informal and the atmosphere is relaxed nevertheless the main focus is still on learning and practicing Danish.
At Dansk Café, you can meet other internationals who are keen to improve their Danish. We also encourage Danes to come. Therefore, we are always on the lookout for volunteers who can keep up the conversation.
Dansk Café takes place every second Saturday of the month from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. and the last Wednesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Library at SDU - Alsion 2.
When we meet the coordinators present the outline for the particular day. Some Danish volunteers will circulate around the room to ease the conversation and activities.

Advice to participants
1. Talk, talk, talk - We are here to practice Danish and you do that best by using the language actively! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes – we are all learning and we all make mistakes. You don’t learn, if you don’t try.
2. Talk to other internationals - Danish is not your native language but that doesn’t mean that you can’t learn from each other and practice together.
3. Be open-minded and helpful - instead of laughing at others’ mistakes, gently correct them and explain what they did wrong. Next time it might be you making a mistake you would like to learn from.
We are looking forward to seeing you!
